Cathy Witczak
Special Education, Room 211
I am a native Chicagoan and could not be prouder. I come from a family of educators. Becoming a teacher, to me, was as natural as riding a bike. I received my BA in History and my MA in Special Education at DePaul University. My early teaching experiences were as a Social Studies teacher at the high school level and as a Resource teacher working with students with special needs at a suburban Catholic high school.
While teaching in a program supported by the Hope Institute, I was offered the opportunity to teach at HILA. I felt that this was a meaningful career prospect to help young children understand that they can reach their academic potential not only in grade school but in high school and in life.
I believe that a calm and inviting classroom environment helps students to develop self-confidence in their academic performance and to be challenged to do their best work at all times.
When time allows, I LOVE TO READ!!You name it, I will read it. I have taken some great European trips which have broadened my knowledge of other cultures and their traditions. Please come and visit our classroom in the future. Our students are very proud of their accomplishments. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me by email at cwitczak@thehopeinstitute.us. Thank you for being an important member of the HILA community.
