What makes HILA a great choice?

11-16-09 #351. Great Staff. Great Staff Support – We hire the best staff and we give them the training they need to help your student learn and achieve Maximum Benefit©. Staff at The Hope Institute Learning Academy receives 400 hours of additional training each year.

2. Longer school day + longer school year = more opportunity to learn – Students at The Hope Institute Learning Academy benefit from an extended school day and an extended school year. With a school year that lasts 195 days and a school day that has 7.5 hours of instruction, students receive over 1450 hours of instruction every year. More time for instruction allows students to learn and achieve more every year.

3. A good start for Kindergarten students – Kindergarteners at The Hope Institute Learning Academy benefit from all‐day classes. This not only gives them more instructional time to learn the things that they will need to succeed in school; it also helps them to develop social and communication skills.

4. Personalized to fit your student – Students at The Hope Institute Learning Academy benefit from Learning Teams. Each Learning Team brings together the expertise of many educational professionals (Teachers, Special Education Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Paraprofessionals, Behavior Specialists, Clinicians) who meet weekly to discuss student progress and to modify and personalize instruction to assure that all students are challenged and learning optimally.

5. Local children come first – Students who live in the neighborhood surrounding The Hope Institute Learning Academy have the opportunity to benefit from HILA. The Hope Institute Learning Academy has a neighborhood preference for enrollment that starts with a base of 30% of the student body being selected from neighborhood applicants.

6. We’re close by and easy to get to – The Hope Institute Learning Academy is conveniently located in the UIC Medical District. We are easily accessible by public transportation and close to I‐290. Our extended school day and after school programs make it easy for working parents to drop their children off at school and pick them up around their daily work schedules.

7. A community‐based school that supports families – One way that The Hope Institute Learning Academy supports families is by sponsoring the HILA Family Educational Resource and Support Center, providing families with the tools and resources that they need to help their child succeed. This fall, HILA will open the Community Health Center @ HILA, providing for the primary health care needs of your student and his/her siblings.
