PRIDE is part of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system at HILA. PBIS is a system that reinforces appropriate student behaviors and creates strategies to manage student behavior throughout all environments of the school. Students can earn PRIDE Points by showing Preparation, Responsibility, Integrity, Dedication and Effort. Staff members present PRIDE Points to students when they are demonstrating these appropriate behaviors.
Students are required to earn PRIDE points to access the School-wide PBIS incentive, which includes themed dance parties, movie and popcorn events, Wii games, arts and crafts, relay races, etc. Students that do not meet the set criterion attend an alternative workshop to teach character and review how to show HILA PRIDE. After each incentive, students start out with a new PRIDE Pass and have several opportunities to earn points to access the next PBIS incentive activity.
