HILA encourages students to take pride in their appearance. Students are required to wear the official school uniform, except on designated days. Uniforms should be clean and presentable, and students must remain in the school uniform throughout the school day. Sweaters, sweatshirts and jackets should be marked with the student’s name on the inside label. Student’s shirts should be tucked in with a belt. “Hoodies” are prohibited. No unauthorized clothing should be worn over the uniform.
Hairstyles should be in good taste with no hair coloring or extreme hairstyles (i.e., shaved heads, mohawks, etc.) No designs may be shaved into the hair or eyebrows. Body glitter, make-up, and tattoos are prohibited. Earrings may be worn in the ears only.
Families may purchase uniform items from a vendor of their choice. Girls’ burgundy plaid skirts and jumpers are available only from Zemsky’s (4181 S. Archer, 3539 W. 26th or Ford City Mall) or online at French Toast (www.FrenchToast.com) The girls’ gray skort is available only at French Toast. Students who fail to follow HILA’s Uniform Policy may be given detentions or excluded from extracurricular activities. Please see the 2012-2013 CPS Student Code of Conduct (pg. 9.) A Parent/Guardian Uniform Contract will be developed if a student is out of uniform for three (3) or more days.

Uniform Combinations for Girls
- Burgundy plaid skirt or skort worn with a white blouse or a white long or short sleeved burgundy polo shirt.
- Khaki pants worn with a long or short sleeved burgundy polo shirt.
- Burgundy cardigan sweater (optional) may be worn with any uniform combination.
All uniform combinations for girls must be worn with black leather shoes or black tennis shoes with black laces.
Acceptable sock colors are white, gray, or burgundy. Girls may wear knee socks or footed tights. No footless tights or leggings are to be worn with the uniform. Pants must be worn at the 29 waist with a black belt. Skirt and jumper hemlines should not be more than two (2) inches above the knees. Girls may wear black shorts under skirts on Physical Education (PE) days. Hair accessories should compliment the colors of the uniform.
Uniform Combinations for Boys
- Khaki pants with a long or short sleeved burgundy polo shirt.
- Khaki Shorts (no knit or basketball-type) with a short sleeved burgundy polo.
- Burgundy cardigan sweater (optional) may be worn with any uniform combination.
All uniform combinations for boys must be worn with black leather or black tennis shoes with black laces. Socks must be worn. Acceptable sock colors are white, gray, burgundy, or black. Pants must be worn at the waist with a black belt.
