Special Announcement from Mr. Jakubowski

Thank you for your continued support as we finish up another successful year. I know that each and every student has grown intellectually and emotionally. All of our HILA staff members have worked tirelessly this year to ensure that our children are safe, well educated, and cared for. I look forward to seeing our students and school grow in the coming years. The HILA leadership team will continue to work diligently this summer to ensure that students are hard at work on the first day of school on August 27, 2012.

I would like to welcome Mr. David Quanz back to HILA. Mr. Quanz will serve as HILA’s next assistant principal for the 2012/2013 school year. Mr. Quanz holds a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and a M.S. degree in Educational Technology. He recently completed an Educational Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision at National Louis University in Chicago, IL. Mr. Quanz served at HILA as the library/media specialist and technology coordinator during the 2010/2011 school year. His experiences in developing proactive, positive behavior support strategies will enable each child to succeed. By overseeing the implementation of these strategies, Mr. Quanz will work to reduce misbehavior and increase academic engagement, resulting in improved student achievement. He excels at building collaborative relationships with all stakeholders to promote student growth. Mr. Quanz has been recognized for his ability to support learning in a variety of instructional settings using best practices to support student achievement at all levels.

I would like to encourage you to partner with HILA during the upcoming school year. We are currently looking for parent volunteers to assist with morning duty, supervise in the cafeteria, and assist with the after school program. Please see Ms. Christina Venegas in the main office for a volunteer form. We must ensure that our children arrive each day on time for the 2012/2013 school year. All students need to arrive by 7:45am, in school uniform each day. Breakfast will be served at 7:45am daily. All students will be dismissed at 3:30pm daily, with the exception of Tuesday. Tuesday dismissal will be at 2:50pm. It is imperative that you pick up your children promptly to ensure that our teachers have time to collaborate and plan to best meet the needs of each and every student.

I am very excited about HILA’s bright future. We have retained the vast majority of our talented and dedicated staff, so our children will see many of the same faces next year. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions and/or concerns. Please check HILA’s website throughout the summer for important dates and reminders. Lastly, you will be invited to come meet and greet next year’s teacher and see your child’s new classroom on Friday, August 24th from 1:00pm – 3:00pm.

Sincerely,

Michael Jakubowski, MEd
Principal (2012-2013)
